2002 Vintage/harvest Year

THE SUMMER WAS PLEASANT AND WARM with a few days of rain to assist the vines through the ripening phase. As harvest approached the clusters were deeply colored and full of intense flavors.

Only once did rain threaten the vintage of the decade. We made the decision to let the fruit hang, choosing flavor over weather. We monitored the weather hourly on the internet and pushed back the picking date based on hourly information we received. Fortunately, our weather watch worked!

2002 bethel heights Vineyard pinot noir

AOur friends at Bethel Heights have generously allowed us the opportunity to work with fruit from their venerable Southeast Block. Only 45 cases were made of this wine. Red cherry and lavender fruit with a delicate spicy cumin and dried tea note. In the mouth flavors of red cherry and dried red fruits expand and complement the lush fruit.
